About the Cove

Upper Amherst Cove is a small coastal community of 25 houses in Bonavista Bay. Off the main road, on the north shore of the Bonavista Peninsula, Upper Amherst Cove is a quiet place, not far from Bonavista, or the Trinity bight.

It is the home of Paterson Woodworking, an established woodworking shop, and also The Bonavista Social Cluba  new restaurant/bakery which has received huge acclaim since its opening in 2012. Fresh bread is baked daily in its wood-fired oven, and meals, prepared from produce grown in their own gardens, form the core of their menu.

.Upper Amherst Cove was traditionally a fishing community, and its land and buildings have been shaped by its history and traditions. Many gardens are actively cultivated, and there sheep, goats and chickens roam the pastures

Foot trails and a rocky beach offer great hiking or relaxing. Close by are the various attractions of the Bonavista Peninsula, including hiking, sightseeing, theatre, geology and history.
